Bienvenue Brangelina Babies!

August 4, 2009

They’re heee-rre – and who doesn’t want to see the photos?

People Magazine reportedly paid upwards of $14 million to be the first to present the Knox and Vivienne to the world.

The babies were born in (my dad’s hometown) Nice, France on July 12. Oooh-la-la.

As if the French Riviera weren’t already glitzy enough!

Book Your 'Proudly Preggers' Weekend!

May 1, 2009

I’m thrilled to team with Hotel Madera to offer moms-to-be a luscious babymoon weekend with the “Proudly Preggers” Package.

The perfect baby shower gift or as a surprise for an expecting mom on Mother’s Day, the package includes overnight deluxe accommodations, a signed copy of “Preggatinis™: Mixology for the Mom-To-Be,” a take-home Preggatinis™ muddler, and a relaxing in-room Mother-to-be Harmony Massage utilizing organic and sustainable Kirsten Florian products.

Whether planning a romantic dinner while staying at Hotel Madera – or perhaps a preggie girl’s night out, Chef Danny Bortnick’s menu of organic and sustainable cuisine at Firefly (inside Madera) is a healthy and delicious choice for expecting moms.

Parents will also enjoy Chef Bortnick’s recently launched kid’s menu, which goes beyond the typical staples of chicken fingers and fries. Inspired by what he feeds his children at home, Bortnick uses organic ingredients, many sourced from local farmers, with a variety of parent-approved tasty veggie options like broccoli bites and roasted cauliflower. A sweet treat at the end of the meal, known as the “cookie surprise,” allows kids to personalize and decorate their own cookie before baking.

Hotel Madera’s "Proudly Preggers" package starts at $325.

What’s a Preggatini?

April 7, 2009

A Preggatini(TM) is a nonalcoholic cocktail designed with the mom-to-be in mind.  I prefer to call these drinks “nonalcoholic cocktails” rather than “mocktails” because I put the same amount of thought and effort into creating a balanced drink without liquor as I do one with it… although you are welcome to use whichever term you prefer — tom-ay-to, tom-ah-to.

Preggatinis(TM) are made from freshly squeezed juices, muddled seasonal fruits, fresh herbs – organic whenever possible.  Sometimes I incorporate alcohol-removed wines, exotic ingredients and homemade syrups in the drinks for more variety.  Preggatinis(TM) can be shaken with ice, served in fancy stemware and beautifully garnished.  Anyone can drink a Preggatini(TM) – pregnant or not, male or female, abstaining from alcohol for a day or a lifetime – and still feel like a grown up.  My goal is to include everyone in the fun.

Cheers!

Amsterdam: Spring Has Sprung Behind Door 74

April 4, 2009

While much of Northern Europe remains shrouded in grey skies and chilly temperatures, the sun is spilling out into a small street from behind a nondescript entryway, in Amsterdam. Door 74, one of the continent’s newest – and one of its most notable – cocktailian watering holes has just unveiled its new spring menu.

Amsterdam: No Sweeter Fruit than Feijoa

March 19, 2009

I’ve eaten feijoada (the national dish of Brazil) in Rio de Janeiro on various visits to that city… so when I listed Sergej Fokke’s Feijoa Bar my first bar stop in Amsterdam, I guessed that it might specialize in Latin-inspired cocktails with a possible emphasis on cachaça. Silly me.

US Weekly: Brooke & Charlie Sheen’s Preggatini™ Party

March 16, 2009

As seen in the March 16, 2009 edition of US Weekly, the Sheens and their celebrity guests enjoyed Preggatinis at their fabulous celebrity-studded baby shower at a fancy private home in the Hollywood Hills.

Pulling up to the driveway, my team marveled at how the house resembled a luxury hotel more than a single family residence, and the sprawling backyard could almost rival the length of a soccer field.

Staff buzzed around for hours setting up picnic tables for the kids, plating hors d’oeuvres for the adults and at the bar, my crew was preparing the Preggatinis! The party included face painting, a bubble room, Wii games, a frozen yogurt station and a parade of A-List party guests. Big sisters-to-be Sammie and Lola Sheen had a blast, and other well-dressed tots teetered around with cupcakes in their hands and big smiles on their frosting-covered little faces.

Hollywood has been very receptive to the Preggatini concept, and the Sheen party was no exception. Even the non-preggie guests drank them, including: Martin Sheen (who had 3 Preggie Provences!), Emilio Esteves, Erik Dane, Christine Taylor, Marla Maples, Jon Cryer, and Cathy and Paris Hilton.

Congrats to Brooke and Charlie and the baby boys who will soon be the next generation of Sheen brothers…
